Racial discrimination in the workplace can take many forms. One form it can sometimes take is wrongful differential treatment when it comes to promotions. No employee should have to face racial discrimination in promotions. Thus, one hopes that employers make sure to only consider proper factors when making promotion decisions.
The men claim that they were victims of promotion-related racial discrimination. According to the men, they were passed over for promotions at the company because of their race. The men allege that these promotions were instead given to white workers who were less qualified than them.
A racial discrimination lawsuit has been brought in a federal court in Texas by the men against the company in connection to these allegations. Reportedly, in this lawsuit, the men are asking for damages. It will be interesting to see what happens in this racial discrimination case and how it is ultimately resolved.
No employee should have to worry that they will be wrongfully denied a promotion at their place of work because of their race. Such racial discrimination can cause a great deal of harm to employees. Thus, one hopes that all employers make sure to not engage in conduct like that alleged in the above-discussed case. One also hopes that employers are held accountable when they discriminate against employees on the basis of race when making promotion decisions or other decisions related to employment.
