The attorney also spoke about her personal experience of the bullying of subordinate employees by management that occurs within the agency. This testimony involved her own issue with gender discrimination at the bureau. After an internal investigation at CFPB revealed that her claim was valid, the attorney claims that she faced retaliation by a supervisor. According to reports, the CFPB did not send its own representatives to testify, believing that it would result in the disclosure of confidential personal information about its workers.
Any organization has the potential for employee discrimination, and certain types are prohibited by federal and state law. Whether institutionalized or the result of individual actions, the affected employees may have a civil claim against the employer that could result in compensation for lost wages and other damages.
